butchers shop
By Gary Taylor

When you need meat products why not consider purchasing them from your local Butchers Shop? A local butchers needs support from its local community and can provide a really good level of service and quality of meat. They can provide everyday basic products such as burgers and sausages but also the best quality and most expensive cuts of meat. Most meat provided in a Butchers Shop will be locally sourced and freshly prepared, not frozen or refrigerated for long periods of time. Purchasing local food is becoming more popular for ethical reasons, it reduces the impact on the environment and makes good consumer sense. Too often food purchased from supermarkets is not even produced in the same country as the shop. You will find a Butchers Shop more flexible, they will often prepare food especially for customers and may offer a delivery service. They will often be used by local restaurants as they know that quality and value for money are paramount if they are to survive in such a competitive business. Some butchers will also cater for large parties and events.

The weather was nice at the weekend so we had a good old British barbecue. There was plenty of meat for the guests to enjoy and free range lamb chops were part of the feast. We had bought them from a local butcher who specialises in all types of organic meat. Along with bangers and burgers, kebabs and chicken pieces the free range lamb proved to be extremely popular. Chefs will tell you that you can taste the difference in the quality of certain meats and when it comes to organic produce it just can`t be beaten. Buy supermarket packed budget meats and they are less flavoursome but free range meat packs a powerful punch. Cooked on the barbecue the lamb that we bought sent this wonderful aroma into the air. I knew it was good because the speed at which it was devoured by people must have been record breaking. You can`t beat lamb done on a barbecue but I`m a sucker for a good roast dinner as well. As long as plenty of roast potatoes and a nice mix of vegetable are included I consider lamb with mint and rosemary to be one of my favourite family lunches. I`m hoping the weather is going to be good again next weekend because I quite fancy having another barbecue so I can enjoy some more of the fabulous free range lamb.
